Introduction
By using the developed technology of the GlassMarker 3D laserengraver equipments it is possible to form letterings, pictures, graphics, two- or three dimensional forms inside the transparent, solid glasscrystalls without injuring the surface of those. Such pictures will never be dim, or modified, provided that the glass doesn’t brake. Other transparent materials can also to be engraved, such as silicaglass, or acryl (Plexi). This new technology uses focused, high intesity laserbeam to create the pictures inside the glass. The absorption of the laserbeam is not linear in this medium, resulting aggregation of microscopical cracks in specific points. This whole bulk of these aggregations seems to be a white picture for the spectator. The desired picture is made by the laserbeam point by point, through the iterative 2D or 3D focusing of the picture according to the positions of the picture points. The laserengravers can make 2D as well as 3D pictures inside the glasscrystalls.
You can produce by the 3D laserengravers not only ornaments or souvenirs, but there are also a lot of industrial application: identification- and safety markings inside the wall of bottles or plate-glasses, or lenses. Artistic glass compositions can also be marked by this method e.g: mirrors, table ornamentations, interior design units, or promotion articles.
The efficient and safe solutions are ensured by the long experience of the producer, if necessary by using special equipments.
Technical Information for the flatbed GlassMarker 3D lasers
1. Steering
The Glassmarker 3D innerglass engraving equipment can create 2D or 3D pictures inside the glasscrystalls. The steering is based on an Intel Pentium mikroprocessor, and the optics are driven by special movement-driving cards. The PC steering unit communicates with the peripheries through standard interfaces and digital I/O gates. The main blocks of the system are: Nd:YAG laser, x-y-z laser positioning system, electrical steering unit, Windows software package. The steering of the laser emission is tuned on a steady output for a long run. The power of the shaping is ensured by a special Nd:YAG laser, manufactured on the basis of patented design. The whole operation of the system is controlled by a PC through specialized softwares. These softwares help the user at the correct adjustment of the work: positioning of the picture inside the glasscrystall, choice of the engraving speed etc.
2. Softwares
The whole package of the softwares include 4 programs: Laser-control, Laseriamge, 2D-photo és 3D-photo.
LaserControl:
It is a steering program ensuring the communication of the important systemcomponents. It runs under Windows XP.
LaserImage:
This program is userfriendly, appropriate for adjustment of the engraving functions. Compatible with the Windows 98, 2000, XP. It can import dxf and bmp files, which can be made by 3D StudioMAX, AutoCAD, CorelDRAW, or other current 2D or 3D programs, and also by 3D scanner/camera. The laserImage is an efficient mean of transforming general 3D formats to other forms, which are perceivable for the laser.
2D-photo és 3D-photo:
These programs convert D2 and 3D pictures, are easy to handle and automated.
3. The working station
It is a modular constructed, flexible working station with two main modul: laser unit and actuating unit. The units are easy to adapt for the demands of the user.
Parts of the laserunit are: laser, cooler and power supply.
Parts of the actuating unit: working table, motor driving unit, mirrors and focusing lenses.
The working station is built up on a strong, stabile construction, which holds together the other auxiliary equipments. On the construction there is a cladding, which can be fully closed. The man-hole ensures a good acces to the working area, and closes safely during the engraving according to the laser safety level Class 1.
4. The 3D-scanner (optional)
The 3D-scanner is able for 3D digitalization of living organs, or inorganic objects with the following technical characteristics (more type):
3D max. resolution: 200 x 200 dpi
2D max. resolution: 640 x 640 dpi
Scanning time: less than 1 second
Mapping time: less than 3 minutes (from the scanning to the export of the point aggregation)
Number of the aggregated point: unlimited (the only limitation is the mimimum shooting range of the laser)
More details about the 3D scanners here.
5. The process of the 3D engraving inside the glass
For the 3D engraving we need the extensional coordinates of the picture, which we would like to generate. These points can be created by the 2D- vagy 3D-photo softwares. The original fileformats must be converted to LAS files for the special Lasercontrol program; it is made by the Laserimage software. The dimensions of the glasscrystall body, the measure of the sample must be defined during the software elaboration, and the engraving process can be started next.
Choose an adequate type according to your ordered quantity and/or business policy!
The number of heads in one engraving equipment determines the number of the glasscrystalls, in which simultaneously the same pictures are engraved. But the more- head equipments are able to shape also less crystalls, e.g. it is not a must to fill the whole engraving area.
If necessary, the producer can provide engraving equipments also with more head.
